Action will come to an end on Monday, October 8 in the final eight ties of this year’s Kwese Premier Basketball League, following the start of hostilities in the Savannah and Atlantic Conferences on Tuesday.
Kwese Premier Basketball League, which is organised by Tijani Umar’s faction of Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF) dunked off in the sports hall of Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano.
The finals will climax at same venue on Monday, following action in the Atlantic Conference play-offs in Lagos last weekend.
Kwara Falcons of Ilorin retained their title by beating ex-national team captain, Olumide Oyedeji’s club, Hoops & Read of Lagos 96-90, while Nigeria Customs also qualified for the Final 8 with a 66-59 win against Comets.
Top-flight rookies, Anambra Flames hit Police Batons 80-77 in their last game to confirm their qualification, but Oluyole Warriors of Ibadan failed to qualify despite trouncing Delta Force of Asaba 81-48.
In the Savannah Conference, Gombe Bulls, Kano Pillars, Bauchi Nets and AHIP Giants qualified for the Final 8 from the Bauchi centre.
As action hots up in the Final 8, all teams will be on their toes to avoid lapses, as they seek top spot in Kano.
