All is set for the commencement of the Seventh Kwara State Sports Festival tagged “KWASFEST 2020”.
In a press statement by the Press Secretary, Kwara State Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Dr. Sangodare Ayinla, the Vice-Chairman, Main Organising Committee, Alhaji Hameed Adio, disclosed that the opening ceremony of the festival will hold tomorrow Monday, January, 2020, starting from 2:00pm.
He stated that the event, which will feature about three thousand participants from the sixteen LGAs across the State, is part of the efforts of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to develop the grassroots sports and strengthen unity among the people of the State.
Alhaji Adio noted that as part of the arrangements for the kick off of the festival, all the participating LGAs are to hoist their flags today to indicate their readiness to participate in the festival.
He added that His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will be in attendance tomorrow to honour the event.
Commending Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his passion to give more blood to the vein of sports development in the State, Adio added that the opening ceremony will
be a showcase of cultural endowments of the participating LGAs.
The Vice-Chairman, who said that the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Akin Dare, will be a special Guest of honour on the grand finale of the championship, which he said will take place on the 1st of February, 2020.
