Kwara United will be facing Jigawa Golden Stars on Sunday in NPFL match day 23 encounter which will be played at the Sanni Abacha stadium, Kofarmata, Kano.
The Harmony Boys will go into this duel with wounded minds having lost their last home game against Lobi Stars in which Alex Aghahowa’s 21st minute strike condemned Kwara United to a defeat in front of their faithfuls.
Jiwaga on the other hand were not also impressive in their last own tie losing against current NPFL leaders Plateau United.
But their last home game was a 2-1 win against Wikki Tourists and they will want to dwell on that success as morale booster against Kwara United.
In history, Jigawa Golden Stars have only defeated Kwara United twice in the second division, and the encounter on Sunday will be the first ever duel between these two sides in the top flight.
Interestingly, Jigawa Golden Stars and Kwara United are currently in the drop division in which a win for any side on Sunday will take them out of the relegation zone.
And since the match will be played in Kano which is the adopted home of Jigawa, it gives both sides the opportunity to display good skills.
Kwara United will be without their coach Abdullahi Biffo who has been admitted since Wednesday after he developed fever in training and nearly collapsed before being rushed to the hospital.
His assistant Ashifat Suleiman popularly known as Brazil will be in charge of the Harmony Boys in Kano.
United forward Musa Olororo however stated emphatically that himself and other teammates are in Kano to beat Jigawa Golden Stars so as for them to redeem themselves.
“The only thing we can do here is for us to beat Jigawa tomorrow and we are ready because we want to make our fans happy again.
“I also want to beg our fans once again not to lose faith in us and I promise on behalf of my teammates that we will get excellent result here in Kano,” Olororo explained.
Meanwhile, Kwara United are still expected to stick with the side that lost against Lobi with goalkeeper Iwu Emmanuel retaining his position in goal.
Iwu has been fantastic for Kwara United this season in all the away games he has kept, and his experience will surely play a pivotal role on Sunday.
