Soccer, undoubtedly, is the most popular sport in the world. Just by looking at the number of fans and players of the game, it is clearly tough to argue against its world popularity. It is truly one of the few sports that can be found all around the world.
Reportedly, unimaginable number of people tuned in to watch the game of soccer everyday when compared to other sports. This further proves its popularity around the world and most importantly within our locality.
Part of what makes the sport so special is the passion and energy of the supporters, fans and spectators. People live and die with the results of their favourite club, and for those who are in fact true fans, it is a lifelong bond. The dedication of supporter groups to each and every match makes the experience incredible.
The soundscape of soccer is completely affected by the passion of the supporters. These devoted individuals are able to have an undeniable impact on the match atmosphere and match result through their effervescent chanting.
Organize noise from the stand serves as catalyst for increased performance, it plays a huge role in the momentum shift from poor performance to a scintillating moves.
Supporters’ groups and ultras are renowned for their fanatical vocal support in large groups with intimidating noise and the display of banners before, during and after a match has been won.
Walking into any stadium in this country for an away match, you can only find one thing in common: jumbotrons exclaiming for people to be “LOUDER!”, “MAKE NOISE!”, or any similar rendition of those phrases referring to people cheering. Every soul in the stadium gives his or her unalloyed support to their home team from the blast of the whistle till the end of the encounter either their team plays well or not.
More than ever, the idea of sound and noise level at sporting events has come into the forefront and for a variety of reasons. The louder you are, the more you give your team the advantage, right momentum to push further, and right attitude to do an ordinary things extraordinarily; screaming as loud as you possibly can will benefit the teams that you love and cherish so dearly.
Kwara United is one of the clubs in Nigeria known for their intimidating crowds, unfortunately, this is fading away and it ought not to be? What could have been the reasons? Can this be attributed to demographics shift? Your guess is as good as mine.
Honestly, football without fans/supporters/spectators is nothing.
If an egg is broken by outside force, life ends, if an egg is broken by inside force, life begins Great things always begin from inside. Look inside you today and bring out the best in there, turn it into something great and you will continue to see great things.
The above reminds me of the atmosphere created by supporters/fans and spectators during Match Day 3 of 2018/2019 Nigeria Professional Football League [NPFL], is something that needs to be truly witnessed to be able to have an idea of the magnitude of its impact on the psyche of the Harmony Boys in a duel with Enyimba International Football Club in Ilorin. The encounter ended 3-2 in favour of the home team despite coming from behind. This was purely out of luck, it was through resilience powered by overwhelming support from about 95% of souls in the stadium. It is absolutely true that charity begins at home. With the euphoria, the team travelled to Benin, the result there is now history. Please keep on supporting your State team.
The ability of the fans to generate noise and heat increase a sense of ownership over the team and dominance of the venue, and sense, too, of having a direct influence on matches. In my opinion, Kwara United, have some of the most devoted and passionate fans/supporters and spectators in the country. The Harmony Boys, in fact, parade strong hold of fans base with huge, hysterically partisan crowds. Their objective, purposeful unalloyed support have revealed a widespread convintion among fans that they can have a considerable impact on the team’s strength, composure and in general, their performances.
The fans, supporters and spectators scream, they holler, they pout, they sulk while their players simultaneously respond with good football artistry. If the wild guinea fowl is praised, it’s domesticated cousin feels elated. Bi a ba n ki etu, ori a ma y’awo.
When Harmony Boys play poorly, it is the fans’/supporters’ and spectators’ fault for not getting behind their team and not ‘intimidating’ the opposition with an intimidating songs and massive support. Anytime their team plays well, it is the fans, supporters and spectators who can take the credit for supporting their team with all their passion and their loyal commitment. You do not adorn your neighbour’s baby with beads when your own baby is begging for adornment, Omo eni ki i se di bebere ki a fi ileke si idi omo elomiran.
Many, as much as I do believe, know that supporters/fans and spectators can have a direct impact on the outcome of matches and that the home support can effectively act as an extra man in tricky situation.
Let us all join hands to support Harmony Boys, our home should remain our fortress. What is indecent is indecent, a leash on a fowl’s neck is despicable. Ohun to ye ni lo ye ni, okun orun o ye adie. O ye adie, eni to n fa a ni o ye.
Henry Ford opined, ‘Coming together is the beginning. Reeping together is progress. Working together is success.’
Kwara United belongs to us all. Let us support whoever is there today; am convinced that someone not yet born will one day work under the organization.
Football as a spectacular event which aimed at satisfying the people’s needs, it is imperative to maintain safety, peace and serenity in and outside the stadiums, therefore a perfect supporter, fan and spectator and most importantly, the registered fans and supporters should act with dignity during any football encounter and always maintain correct and and fair behaviour by providing adequate security for the home team as well as the away team; this is State of harmony, we are hospitable and harmonious.
