Kwara United Football Club has announced a one-month end-of-the-season break commencing today, June 1st, 2023.
In a release by the Media Team, and signed by the Chairman of the Club, Kumbi Titiloye, the break becomes imperative following the conclusion of participation in all the competitions the team played in this season.
Kwara United Football Club participated in the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Abridged League as well as the Federation Cup competitions, ending the league in the 8th position, and losing out in the quarter-finals of the Federation Cup competition.
Kwara United, playing all its league matches away from home owing to the ongoing regression of the grass of the pitch of the Main Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, escaped relegation after beating Nasarawa United 1-0 in Matchday 17th of the NPFL, struggling throughout the season.
The team equally lost out at the quarter-finals of the Federation Cup to Plateau United, losing g by a lone goal, after eliminating Gateway FC 2-1 (Round of 64), Ikorodu City 3-1 (Round of 32), and Nasarawa United 1-0 (Round of 16).
Titiloye, while thanking the state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his continuous support of the team, commended the players, non-playing staff, Supporters, and Fans for their support for the team, and for their sacrifices.
Titiloye also commended the Sports Commission, being led by the Executive Chairman, Mallam Bola Mogaji, the Kwara FA, sports writers, and the entire stakeholders for standing behind the team, especially at crucial moments.
The club commended the technical crew led by Coach Kabir Sulaiman Dogo and other backroom staff for enduring the relatively harsh season.
While agreeing that the target set this season was not met, he pledged that the Board and management will continue to work hard to ensure the aspirations of the Supporters of the team will be pursued, with utmost seriousness.
He said that the one-month break was to give room for the management to analyze the technical reports and other general assessment questionnaires, from which the final report, which will form part of what will be used to plan for next season would be drawn.
