The Kwara State Government has pledged to partner relevant groups, individuals and stakeholders to promote the nation’s football national teams .
Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi, stated this on Thursday, in Ilorin while receiving the Kwara State Chapter of the Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC), in his office.
Mr Alabi, who reaffirmed the commitment of the present administration to football development, promised to be part of the State Chapter even as he expressed the desire of government to support SESC to achieve the purpose for which it was established.
He noted that the State is blessed with a sports loving Governor who is passionate and committed to the programmes and policies aimed at encouraging sporting activities from the grassroots, urged the club not to relent in supporting our national teams to qualify for major tournaments and also during the competition proper.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Magaji, had told the Deputy Governor of the support of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq to Kwara popular mascot to AFCON 2021 in Cameroon, noting that the effort is geared towards supporting the growth of football and to further showcase the talents in the State to the outside world.
Mallam Magaji stressed that the State will continue to partner progressive minded groups such as that of Vincent Okumagba led Super Eagles Supporters Club to promote the game
Also Speaking, the Interim coordinator of the Club, Mr Abdul Momoh who spoke through acting Secretary, Mr Yomi Benson, said the Club is an avenue to develop career in sporting activities apart from supporting the national teams to hoist the nation’s flag in major championships , noting that it will also be championing the campaign against Malaria which is another focus of Prince Okumagba’s led National board of the Club which is inline with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led administration.
He later confirmed that the official inauguration of the Kwara State Chapter of Super Eagles Supporters Club will hold next month and requested the government to support them to witness a hitch free inauguration
