The Kwara State Football Association and Nigeria Red Cross Society, Kwara branch will team up to implement programmes, which will focus largely on enabling healthy and safe living around football environment in the state.
The latest development came after Nigeria Red Cross Society paid a courtesy visit to the Association Secretariat where Chairman of the FA, Malam Idris Musa Abdullahi, described NRCS’s work as very crucial to human existence and survival.
He said partnership with the society would help tremendously in managing disasters and emergency situations within football environment.
Malam Musa noted that as the executive body in charge of all football activities, the FA considered safety & disaster management very seriously and assured the Society that the FA doors would always be open towards future collaborations towards managing disasters and averting emergency situations.
“As an association, we will continue partnering with you in your capacity development programmes so as to empower our personnel and affiliated bodies on the best ways to manage natural disasters and emergency situations,” He stated.
Mr Jimoh Ganiyu, Commandant Detachment 1, while giving his reaction on behalf of Red Cross, said that trainings empowers people to handle critical emergency situations and save lives.
He said given the continued existence of conflict situations and occurrences in Nigeria football, there is the need for solid collaboration between the society, players, coaches, officials and the FA as he appreciated the association for it’s giant strides notably, the provision of Jackets to Red Cross members during football activities.
The Red Cross members, during the meeting, also announce that FA boss, Malam Musa will henceforth be a member with an official inauguration ceremony billed for a later date.
