Kwara Basketball veterans will this weekend stage an invitational basketball championship from the 19th – 21st, March 2021 at the Outdoor court of the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin.
Veterans Secretary, Bello Azeez disclosed the tournament is aimed at encouraging senior citizens that includes ex-basketballers and corporate people to continue supporting the sport.
He said: “We have a large following of basketball fans which includes former basketball players and people in the corporate world who we’ve established mutual relationship within the past, so we’re engaging each other.” He added.
The tournament tagged ‘Veterans Basketball Game’ will be a platform to not only play basketball between old colleagues but also to discuss the game and seek ways of developing it within the country.
Kwara Veterans under the leadership of Ex-Lagos Islanders player, Rasheed Bello alongside DSP Oladosu Babatunde (VP & Officer in Charge of Sport, Nigeria Police Force, Kwara Command), Perpetual Clement, and a host of others, will engage Oyo Basketball veterans (OBV) and First Lagos Veterans Basketball (FLVBB).
All visiting teams arrived today ahead of tomorrow’s games which will feature side attractions like half-court throws, free throws, and other fanfare including a dinner night on Saturday to round up the event.
