Members of the Kwara State Basketball Family has planned to honor the memory of basketball icon, Late Coach Steve Onishola who died on the 7th, Jan 2021.
The Basketball Family including the basketball veterans club and other individuals is now dedicating a basketball tournament powered by Basketball Hounds Academy and being played under the auspices of the state basketball association to the late coach.
Tagged “1st Prolific Basketball Tournament”, tip-off on Monday with eight (8) competing teams in Unilorin Warriors, Basketball Hounds Academy, Team Kwara Hotel, Vikings, Mini braves, Rockstar, Westside, and Offa Hoopers in the championship expected to round up on Sunday.
The association, in a message made available by Bello Azeez, confirmed a posthumous award in honour of the former technical director of Kwara Falcons has also been earmarked for the closing ceremony of the championship.
It added that the wake keeps for the late coach will now be held at the outdoor basketball court of the state stadium on the 14th Jan while the burial will take place in Isin Local Government Area on the following day with plans to wear decorated T-shirts with an emblem to remember the late veteran.
A yearly championship is also in the pipeline to remember the impact the former Falcon handler had on basketball and those around him.
