The newly appointed Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nasarawa State, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu Bohar, officially resumed office today (Monday) amidst pomp and pageantry.
Hon. Kwanta, who was recently appointed and inaugurated by the State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, was warmly welcomed by the Ministry’s staff.
They expressed their excitement and optimism about the new leadership, anticipating positive changes in the youth and sports sector under his administration.

In his brief inaugural speech, Hon. Kwanta expressed his gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to serve and pledged his commitment to promoting youth empowerment and sports development in the State.
“I am committed to creating a vibrant and inclusive youth and sports ecosystem that provides opportunities for young people to develop their skills, talents, and character,” he stated.
Outlining his immediate priorities, the Commissioner emphasized the need for a thorough review of the Ministry’s policies and programs. He also highlighted plans to develop a comprehensive youth and sports development strategy and establish key partnerships with stakeholders both within and outside the State.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, congratulated Hon. Kwanta on his appointment and assured him of the full support and cooperation of the staff.
“We are excited to work with you, and we are confident that your leadership will bring positive change and development to our youth and sports sector, given your past experience as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth and Sports Development,” he remarked.
Hon. Kwanta’s assumption of office signals the beginning of a new era in Nasarawa State’s youth and sports development. Stakeholders are eagerly awaiting the implementation of his vision and policies for the sector.
Governor Abdullahi Sule had nominated Hon. Kwanta Yakubu Bohar alongside fifteen others as Commissioner designates on Monday, 10th February 2025. They were screened by the State House of Assembly on Monday, 16th February 2025, and subsequently inaugurated and assigned portfolios on Friday, 21st February 2025.
Highlights of the resumption ceremony included special prayers for a successful tenure, offered by Christian religious leaders, family members, and well-wishers who accompanied the new Commissioner. Additionally, he inspected offices within the Ministry and participated in group photographs to commemorate the occasion.
