Lobi Stars of Makurdi defender, Solomon Kwambe is banking on the aura of his side’s opening day victory against Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa to help them get victory in their second group game away to ASEC Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire this weekend.
Kwambe described the 2-1 win against Sundowns at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu as a crucial starting point for his side’s CAF Champions League ambitions and the right step towards their espied success.
The 25-year-old former Super Eagles defender, who was a second half substitute for John Lazarus against The Brazilians, added that the Middle Belt side will pull off another shock against ASEC.
Kwambe, though, reckoned that he and his teammates must again play to their coach’s instructions, as he believes the right calls and tactics from the bench can again make a lot of difference as they did in Enugu.
He said: “We feel so excited over the victory over Mamelodi Sundowns because they are a very good side with tactical discipline. But we stuck with our match plans and we are happy it worked for us.”
