Belgian Pro League side KVC Westerlo has officially announced the signing of Nigerian right-winger Hyacinth Ogbonna from Dino Sporting Club.
The young talent has penned a three-year contract with an option for an additional year, marking a significant step in his burgeoning career.
Ogbonna, who first caught the attention of scouts during the Viareggio Cup tournament in Italy, where he played with Alex Transfiguration, will initially join Westerlo’s U23 team.
His impressive performances at the tournament showcased his potential, leading to interest from several European clubs, with Westerlo ultimately securing his signature.
The 11th-place finishers in the Belgian Pro League last season, Westerlo, are keen to develop young talent, and Ogbonna’s signing aligns with their long-term strategy.
The club is hopeful that the Nigerian youngster will make a strong impact and eventually break into the first team.
Ogbonna’s move to Europe provides him with the opportunity to showcase his skills on a larger stage and continue his development in a competitive environment.
The young midfielder is eager to take on this new challenge and contribute to Westerlo’s ambitions in the Belgian Pro League.
