Isah encouraged Opana to demonstrate resilience, determination, hard work, and passion in his new role. His appointment was based on a strong track record with various Nigerian football clubs, and his primary goal is to guide Kogi United FC to promotion into the second tier of the Nigerian league.

The chairman also expressed appreciation to the Kogi State government for its steadfast support of state football teams.

In response, Opana thanked the club’s management for the opportunity and pledged to work diligently toward securing promotion to the Nigeria National League (NNL) by the end of the upcoming Nationwide League One season.

He will be supported by assistant coaches Mohammed Yusuf, Abdulazeez Adeiza, and Taiye Ojo.

After narrowly missing out on promotion last season, Kogi United FC will begin their campaign to return to the NNL in April 2025.
