Mallam Hassan Wada has been elected as the new Chairman of the Kogi State Football Association, following a successful election held at the Nigeria Union Of Teachers guest house in Lokoja on Wednesday.
The results were announced by Alhaji Yahaya Alih Keller, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, in the presence of two representatives from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Dr Rabiu Inuwa Sheriff (Ahlan), Chairman of NFF Technical Committee and Kano State Football Association, and Mallam Ali Abubakar Mohammed, Head Member Association and Special Duties of the NFF, were present to witness Wada’s victory, as he garnered a total of 25 votes.
In the Vice Chairman position, Ismail Salihu and Isiyaka Suleiman (Faky) were elected as first and second Vice Chairmen respectively, each receiving 25 votes.
Prior to the dissolution of the Normalization Committee and the election, Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Sadiq Abubakar Ainoko, expressed his gratitude to the NFF for entrusting him and his committee members with the responsibility of bringing normalcy to football in Kogi State and overseeing the election process.
He also thanked all stakeholders for their cooperation and announced that the Committee had fulfilled its mandate with utmost diligence, despite some challenges faced along the way.

Honourable Abdulmalik Isah, Chairman of Kogi United and Confluence Queens FC, also commended the NFF for restoring order in Kogi State football and urged the new board to collaborate with relevant stakeholders for the advancement of the sport in the state.
In his acceptance speech, Chairman Hassan Wada expressed his gratitude to God for the successful election, stating that it was a dream come true. He also emphasized his passion and love for football, which motivated him to seek a leadership position in the sport.
Wada promised to introduce new strategies and initiatives for the rapid development of football in Kogi State, with a particular focus on grassroots football. He urged all stakeholders to join hands with the new board to drive progress and ensure accountability.
The election also marked a historic moment as the first female, Tosin Ojo Olorunleke, was elected into the board of the Kogi State Football Association as Team Manager of Confluence Queens FC.
