It was a beautiful evening at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja, Kogi State where the FA cup final took place between the Kogi United FC and the federal medical center FC.
The match kick-off at exactly 16:00 hours West Africa Time, as both clubs hit hard in front of their fans.
Thanks to the opening goal scorer who could not but hit the ball straight inside the goal post giving Kogi united an early 1-0 zero lead.
Thinking it was over before the first 45 minutes of play, another second decisive strike was made giving Kogi United a 2-0 first-half victory.
The fans could not hold their excitement as they were sited singing songs of praises and jubilation with the live band brigade to cheer their players up.
Football they say is a game of professionality and luck, but luck was against the federal medical center FC as Kogi United FC thrash the (FMC) in a 2-0 clean sheet defeat to emerge the FA cup champion.
In an interview with sports247.ng, the Technical Adviser of Kogi United FC, coach Folabi Ojekunle who couldn’t hold his joy said;
” I feel good because it went as planned, it’s something that we have really worked on, it’s something that we desire”
Getting this trophy today is not something we started yesterday, it’s something that we really planned for. Coach Ojekunle added”
” Winning the State FA cup is an advantage to the team and to everybody to see how we can do better in the federation. Everyone should watch out for Kogi United because most of the players that have been playing in the team played like professionals because they are under a professional coach so they know what it is”
” So I will say they should all look out for Kogi United FC for something good in the nearest future” he concluded.
