Preparations for the maiden edition of the KIFA National Challenge Cup have reached the fever pitch, as teams have released their various squad for the competition slated for July 12-16, 2021, at Remo Stars International Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun state.
Eight teams representing the KIFA zones in Nigeria are expected to participate in the highly- anticipated competition that is also expected to attract top local football scouts and administrators.
According to a statement by the Director-General of KIFA, Prince Dapo Ajibade, the competition is aimed at getting the talented young lads in the large pool of the academy exposed to tough and competitive football.
” KIFA is setting the benchmark for grassroots football development in Nigeria and Africa. We have been training players our various centers across the country in the past three years, ” Ajibade explained.
” These young lads are now primed for competitive football. Therefore, the forthcoming KIFA National Challenge Cup is to give these starry-eyed lads the opportunity to display their given talents before the expectant football-loving public,” Ajibade, a former Chairman of Sunshine Stars and Ondo State Football Agency, ” further stated.
