The Kidsport Charity Cup is an integral part of the organization, hosting events for orphanages in Lagos State and, more recently, extending its reach to include Ogun State.
The initiative brings orphaned and less privileged children into a vibrant sporting atmosphere, allowing them to engage with celebrities and peers.
While football has been a staple of the charity cup, this year’s edition seeks to expand its horizons by introducing esports, basketball, ludo, and chess.
Additionally, Kidsport runs a football academy known as Dazzle FC, formerly named Kidsport.
The organization is actively involved in school sports, with its entire focus centred around using sports as a medium to uplift children and youth.
The Charity Cup is celebrating its 13th edition, with its inception dating back to 2009.
How You Can Get a Chance To Become a Millionaire
Although the event missed two years due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been a consistent force in providing a platform for young talents.
The Charity Cup not only offers participants the chance to showcase their skills but also facilitates interactions with celebrities, fostering a conducive and supportive environment.
Speaking in an interview with Sports247 after the Kidsport Charity Cup press conference, Bukola Alabi expressed her expectations for the upcoming edition, emphasizing the potential for discovering talented individuals who can advance to play professionally in football, esports, and basketball.
The goal is to have more testimonials of participants being scouted and propelled to the next level of their respective sports.
“My expectation is that we would have more testimonials in terms of scouts discovering some of these kids and actually taking them to go play professional football, e-sports and basketball. Their talents would be spotted from this event and they would be taken to the next level that they can actually take themselves.” She said.
When questioned about the financial gains for Kidsport if any of the players are discovered, Alabi clarified that the organization’s primary focus is on providing a platform for development and showcasing skills.
Profits, if any, would come when discovered players sign professional contracts and acknowledge Kidsport as the platform where their talents are nurtured.
As the Kidsport Charity Cup Season 13 approaches, the organization remains committed to uplifting young lives and fostering a brighter future through the transformative power of sports.
