Sixteen schools that registered for the maiden edition of Radio Nigeria Ibadan Kids Football Challenge have been drawn into four groups.
At the ceremony held at the Broadcasting House, Dugbe, Ibadan, the participating schools were zoned into Ibadan and Oyo zones.
Brightville School, U.I.International school, Maverick International school, and Christ The Redeemer secondary school are in group A.
In group B, Loyola College, Qiblah College, Saint Catherine school, and Christ Ambassadors International College would be locking horns.
In Oyo zone, Ladigbolu secondary school, SPED secondary school, Community High School, Ilora and Fiditi Grammar school will be slugging it out in Group C
Group D has Community High School, Fiditi, Olivet Baptist College, Oyo, Oba Adeyemi High school, Oyo, and Al-Aadin Unique College.
Earlier, the Acting Zonal Director, FRCN, Ibadan zonal station, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi represented by the deputy director of News and Current Affairs, Elder Adenrele Ajisefinni, had pointed out that the football competition would discover the football talents at the grassroots and also check youth restiveness in the society.
Mrs. Owoyemi stressed the need for all tiers of governments to pump more funds into the sports sector and provide state of art sporting facilities.
Also speaking, Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Sports development, Mr. Tobi Oyewumi appealed to the participating schools not to field overage players at the competition, which is meant for under 12 players.
The Chairman, Local Organising Committee of the competition, Mr. Wale Afinjuomo, who is also the Assistant Director, marketing, FRCN Ibadan zonal station, noted that modalities for hitch-free and fair officiating competition have been put into place
Ex International, Haruna Ilerika, General Manager, Premier Fm Ibadan, Alhaji Aderemi Omotosho, Educationists and Games masters from the 16 participating schools attended the draws of the Radio Nigeria Kids Football Challenge which will be held from the tenth to seventeenth of next month.
