She will face longtime rival Bright Emmanuel, who has risen through the junior ranks alongside her. Mohammed, fresh from her Dala Hard Court triumph last November in Kano, secured her final spot by defeating Itoro Bassey 6-3, 6-4. Emmanuel, training at Apapa Tennis Club, booked her first senior national final with a commanding 6-2, 6-3 win over top player Blessing Omotayo.

In the men’s singles, top-seeded Christopher Bulus, Nigeria’s leading Davis Cup player, eased past Ikechukwu Iloputa 6-2, 6-0. He will face David Adeleye in the final after Adeleye dominated Abayomi Phillips 6-1, 6-1 in the other semifinal.

The much-anticipated finals tomorrow at Ikoyi Club, Lagos, will mark the climax of an exciting week of tennis action at the Rainoil National Open.
