Prosper Ozegbe’s 82nd-minute Goal was all KG Sports Academy needed to snatch victory in the opening Match of the KG Foundation Cup against Winners Fc of Agbor Obi at the Gbenoba Grammar School Ground on Tuesday.
The Academy Boys Started the match like a train with Omotunde Francis and Godsent Benedict charging upfront but it was the Agbor Obi Boys who came close to scoring in the 15th minute of the encounter when Earnest shot was inches wide.
Enterprising Godstime Utomi in his Usual way entertained the fans with his dribbles and diagonal passes but the duo of Francis and Godsent couldn’t Convert as the first half ended goal less.
Whatever Coach Sammy Okonkwo must have told the boys at half time seemed to have worked with a couple of changes made, the Academy boys were all over the Agbor Obi Boys in the second half with Tony Eseka and Godstime Utomi continue to run the defense of the Winners FC down.
Substitute Prosper Ozegbe’s Strike in the 82nd minute proved to be vital as it earned the Academy boys 3 points.
The teenage sensation latched onto a headed clearance from WInners Defender before firing home to up the Academy boys ahead.
Ozegbe was on target again in the 86th Minute after beating an offside trap and rounding up the Goalkeeper before slotting into an empty net but was ruled offside.
KG sports Academy Held on to the slim win and will go into the next match Against Green Rangers on Thursday top of the Table.
