Kelechi Iheanacho, the Super Eagles’ star forward, showcased his fine form by scoring his first Championship goal of the season at Carrow Road, helping Leicester City claim a commanding 2-0 win over Norwich City.
Despite six previous League games without finding the net, Iheanacho broke the drought just before half-time in this encounter. A Norwich City defender fouled Stephy Mavididi, prompting referee Graham Scott to point to the penalty spot. The twenty-six-year-old Iheanacho remained composed, delivering a precise penalty into the back of the net.
Although Norwich City’s goalkeeper, Angus Gunn, managed to get a touch on the ball, it was insufficient to prevent it from crossing the goal line.
In the 68th minute, Iheanacho was substituted for English and club veteran Jamie Vardy, who played a pivotal role in Leicester’s second goal.
Vardy initiated a counter-attack that led to a pass to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Hall penetrated the edge of the box and delivered a square pass to Kasey McAteer, who easily tapped the ball into an empty net.
With this victory, Leicester City maintained their second position in the league standings, accumulating eighteen points from seven games, just one point behind the league leaders, Preston North End.
Kelechi Iheanacho’s exceptional performance in this EFL Championship clash highlighted his importance to Leicester City and left fans eagerly anticipating his continued contributions in upcoming matches.
