New loan signing at Middlesborough of England, Kelechi Iheanacho has received a ‘good luck charge’ that could help him achieve a second straight English Championship title this season, sports247.ng gathered.
Incidentally, the ‘good luck charge’ that could spur Iheanacho into more success on his return to England comes from Sevilla of Spain, which he joined in a full transfer last summer, but reached an agreement on Monday to loan him to Middlesborough until the end of the current campaign.
With the ex-Columbus Crew of USA as well as former Manchester City and Leicester City of England attacker failing to settle at Sevilla, the modest La Liga side opted to loan him to Boro and share his wages for the remaining part of this season.
He now takes after Bathlomew Ogbeche, Kenneth Omeruo, Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Chuba Akpom as the next Nigerian to feature for The Riverside outfit that currently stand seventh on the log of England’s lower division.
Although a 3-2 loss at home to fourth placed Sunderland on Monday appeared to have dented Boro’s promotion hope, Sevilla sent Iheanacho forth with a message of optimism that he will be able help the north-east club climb back to the English Premier League.
Should that come to pass, then ‘Senior Man’ would have achieved the onerous feat of winning the Championship title back-to-back, having also helped Leicester pick the same gong on their way back to the EPL last summer.
However, a message from Sevilla confirming their agreement of a loan deal taking Iheanacho to Middlesborough until the end of this seeason hinted that the product of Taye Football Academy of Owerri, who emerged as most valuable player at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup, which he helped Nigeria win in United Arab Emirates, would need a lot of luck in order to pull off the feat with Boro.
The Spanish club’s message read in part: “Sevilla and Middlesborough have reached an agreement for the loan, until the end of this season, for Nigerian international striker, Kelechi Iheanacho. He will strengthen the Riverside Stadium team in its aim of returning to the Premier League. The Sevilla club would like to thank Iheanacho for his work in recent months and wishes him the best of luck for this second part of the season.”
