Chairman Police College Badminton Club, Mazi Kelechi has explained why his club organized Indo-Nigeria Chinese Intra Club Tourney in Lagos.
The three days event ended yesterday at Badminton Sports Indoor Hall of Police College, Ikeja, Lagos.
Kelechi said the tournament was put together to the elated end-of-year party with Indians, Chinese, and Nigerians who are members of the Badminton club.
He said they used the three days event to foster relationship, unity, and friendliness among the three races in the club and commended the members for their commitment and dedication to the club throughout the out
“This is the first time we organized such a tournament and we are doing that to wine and dine with Chinese and Indian people among us. We are happy that they are our club members and our relationship with them is quite impressive,” he said.
Kelechi who was impressed with the success of the tournament told our correspondent that the next edition would allow more badminton clubs to involve in the tournament. He said the tournament is not all about winning but giving all the participating club members and other races to showcase their skills in the game of badminton.
In his vote of thanks, Sec General of the club, Kehinde Ayepe thanked the club members for their commitment to the club in the outgoing year and commended the participating Badminton players for the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited in the last three days.
He however said that the essence of the competition is to feast with other races who are friends of the club and contributed immensely to the growth of the club in one way or the other,
Ayepe who commended the leadership of Kelechi expressed gratitude to God for the success of the competition and promised that the next edition would be more glamorous and better.
Meanwhile, some male and female Badminton players who distinguished themselves in the last three days of the competition received gift items for their outstanding performances.
Friends, well-wishers, and other invited guests who attended the closing ceremony were entertained with drinks, food as a way of appreciating them for their supports and prayers offered by the club in the outgoing year.
