Kebbi United’s Abdullahi Umar Aims for Super 8 Playoffs After Winning MVP, Top Scorer Awards

Kebbi United’s rising star, 18-year-old Abdullahi Umar, has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure a place in the NNL Promotion Super 8 playoffs.

The young striker, who was honored as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Highest Goal Scorer at the NNL/Prostar/Sportslight Hub Monthly Awards, received his accolades on Thursday at the NNL Secretariat in Wuse Zone 7, Abuja.

A native of Kwara State, Umar gained recognition after scoring the first hat-trick of the NNL season. His outstanding performances, including multiple assists, have made him a key figure in Kebbi United’s campaign.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Umar expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized his commitment to helping his team secure promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). “I am truly honored to receive these awards as the MVP and Highest Goal Scorer. I want to thank the NNL and, most importantly, my teammates, because this achievement wouldn’t have been possible without them,” Umar said.

“My goal is to help Kebbi United qualify for the Super 8 and earn an NPFL ticket. These awards have given me extra motivation, and I am determined to give my best. This is just the beginning of great things to come. Please keep me in your prayers.”

While presenting the awards, former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu, encouraged Umar to remain focused and dedicated to his football career.

“This is just the beginning for you, Abdullahi. Your career will be shaped by your commitment and hard work. Stay dedicated, keep improving, and never lose focus,” Amadu advised.

With his remarkable performances and growing confidence, Abdullahi Umar is emerging as one of the most promising young talents in the NNL. All eyes will be on him as he strives to lead Kebbi United to the Super 8 playoffs and ultimately to the NPFL
