The leadership of the Kickboxing Federation of Nigeria, has sent a strongly worded query to the Kwara State Kickboxing Association on the just concluded Barrister Ibrahim Atanda Kwara Kickboxing Zonal/ Invitational Championship and Referees Seminar, reports Sports Chronicle Magazine.
According to the letter dated August 3rd, 2021, sent to the Director of Federations at the Sports Ministry and scooped by our reliable source, it demanded an explanation from the Kwara Kickboxing Association over its flagrant disregard for the national body.
It described the action and decision of the Kwara body as a ”contravention and contempt of extant and relevant provision of laws regulating conducts of association under national federations.”
” These regulations were put in place by the Sports Ministry, to ensure that standards; technical and safety are not compromised,” it read.
Beyond the obvious misgivings, also demanded that the Kwara chapter of the kickboxing body explain the circumstances leading to the untimely death of coach Olufunke Oguntuyi.
” This clear and willful contravention of due process has been highlighted by the sudden death of a member of the coaching staff of Ogun State Kickboxing Association, late Miss Olufunke Oguntuyi, at the purported championship.
“In the light of the foregoing, you are directed to furnish the Federation with, firstly, the circumstances surrounding the death of late coach Olufunke Oguntuyi and, secondly, why your association chose to willfully contravene due process by organizing a championship without the approval of the Federation.
” Even after you were notified that the proposed action was at variance with existing regulations and best practices,” the letter demanded emphatically.
