“Playing football as a girl is not easy. There’s an old saying that goes, ‘What a man can do, a woman can do also.’ So, we need to show that we can really do this. But it’s a challenge because we face opposition from our families, friends, and even the demands of education.
These challenges make it tough for girls to play football. I’ve been working hard in my chosen career, and despite these challenges, I’ve achieved quite a bit. We’ve won many trophies and medals, which makes us proud as female football players.” She told Sports247 in an interview.
Zainab has some valuable advice for young girls aspiring to play football. She encourages them to pursue their dreams, despite the obstacles they may encounter.
“I’d tell them to go after what’s in their hearts, to believe in themselves and work hard. It’s not easy for girls to play football; they face opposition from various sides trying to discourage them. But if they’re determined, they should push forward, no matter the challenges. Players like Oshola have faced challenges but have risen to the top. So, it’s fantastic for us as girls to play football.”
