Former Super Eagles captain, Nwankwo Kanu (Papilo) will commence this year’s youth football development programme at Greensprings School, Lekki, Lagos on April 14 and run it till the 19th.
Sports247.ng learnt that the school’s management have already set efforts in motion to ensure the former soccer star and their students get the best from this year’s programme.
Towards that end, the management has urged parents and guardians that want to turn their children to be part of the football building and dream enhancing venture to register them for the 2019 camp.
Head of Corporate Strategy, Greensprings School, Uche Ogbu disclosed that the annual camp was established in 2012 by Kanu Heart Foundation and the institution to help children between ages of five and 17 enhance their football skills.
Ogbu also recalled that, since the inception of the football camp, nine students from various less-privileged communities have been awarded educational scholarships into the host school.
He added that participants would get first class training by coaches from West Bromwich Albion of England and Netherlands Football Association, to be supported by coaches from Lagos State Football Association.
Ogbu expatiated: “They will also get a lifetime opportunity to receive direct mentoring and coaching from Nigerian football legend, Kanu Nwankwo.
“At the end of the five-day football camp, awards will be issued to the participants based on their performance at the camp.
“The grand prize for the camp is an educational scholarship into Greensprings School, which goes to the most promising player.
