Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Kano state council has assembled football legs that it trusts can crush Kano Police Machines fc in a novelty match fixed for next Wednesday at the main bowl of Sani Abacha Stadium Kano.
The coach of the Pen Boys, Nura Garba, on Monday morning at Mahaha Sports Complex at the end of their training session said the die is cast.
According to coach Nura, team NUJ Kano judging from their last workout season from all indications has the technical potentiality to crush Kano Police Machines.
The chairman of NUJ Kano, Abbas Ibrahim speaking, on the friendly football duel said “Our boys are in high spirits, we are motivated.
” We know for sure that the police team is a semi-professional football club, whilst our team is an assembly of talented individual players, it is going to be tough, but be rest assured, it is going to be a good match. We urge all our members, to come out en-masse to cheer our team to victory.”
Abbas said, however, what is crucial is that the key message of the match, which is to promote. peace should not play a back role, prior to, during, and after the novelty match.
The spokesman, of the state police command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed that the match would hold, said the motive behind organizing the match is to foster and sustain peace and unity.
He emphasized that sports, specifically football is a unifying factor, noting that the match irrespective of the outcome of the encounter will serve the purpose of sending the message of peace to the good people of Kano.
The NUJ Kano fc versus Kano Police Machines fc novelty football match has been fixed to kick off by 2 pm, Wednesday 23rd August 2023 at Sani Abacha stadium.
