The Kano State Government has rewarded Salisu Yaro aka Mai Gida for his commitment to Kano Pillars during his lifetime, Sports247 reports.
This was disclosed in a piece of information released by the Kano Pillars FC media which described the event which took place on Friday as a fulfillment of the state’s pledge to reward individuals who have contributed to Kano Pillars FC’s success in various capacities, both past and present.
This gesture reflects the state’s commitment to acknowledging the hard work and dedication of those who have supported the club’s journey.
The government under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, through the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso presented a cheque of more than 11.2 million Naira to the family of the late Alhaji Salisu Yaro.
Hon. Kwankwaso in his remark at the presentation described Salisu Yaro as a remarkable figure whose legacy within Kano Pillars FC and the wider sports community.
He emphasised that the Kano State Government remains committed to enhancing sports as a crucial tool for engaging the youth and steering them away from negative influences.
Yaro, who served the club in numerous roles, including as Welfare Officer and later as General Coordinator, was a devoted figure in the club’s history.
Throughout his life, Yaro remained a staunch supporter for the former Nigerian Champions whose influence and passion left a lasting impact on the club.
Salisu Yaro passed away earlier this year after a prolonged illness
