The Kano State delegation, led by the Acting Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Alhaji Bala Sani Shehu, arrived in Asaba, the capital city of Delta State, in the early hours of Wednesday.
The journey from the Pyramid city to the Big Heart city took approximately 25 hours, with the delegation arriving safely for the 8th Edition of the National Youth Games 2024.

Comprising 145 talented athletes, the Kano State contingent is set to showcase their skills in 13 out of the 36 events scheduled for the tournament.
The events include basketball, fives, judo, karate, kickboxing, para-athletics, rugby, shooting, taekwondo, swimming, and wrestling.
The young, talented, and energetic athletes from Kano State are prepared to represent the state at the upcoming event, which is set to commence on Thursday.
During the previous edition of the National Youth Games, the Kano State contingent participated in 19 games out of 36, achieving remarkable success by winning a total of eighteen medals.
This impressive medal tally includes one gold medal, six silver medals, and eleven bronze medals, securing the state’s 21st position on the overall standings.
The National Youth Games is a multi-sporting event introduced during the administration of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, organized by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the National Sports Commission.
The event aims to bring together young athletes from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria to showcase their sporting talents and foster national unity through sports participation.
