Kano Pillars and Safety Babes were crowned champions of the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League 2022 which was concluded in Lagos on Wednesday.
Kano Pillars, who played out a 21-21 draw with Safety Shooters on the finale day in the presence of dignitaries, retained the title they won in 2021 with an unbeaten record.
Safety Shooters also came second in the women category, after that draw with Kano Pillars while Niger United came third after defeating Rima Strikers 23-24 thereby confirming the Caliphate team to 4th on the table.
Owena Kings have been relegated to th National Division One League after they played out a pulsating 32-32 draw with Tojemarine Academy who came 6th while Police Machine escaped relegation after they defeated Benue Buffaloes 28-25.
In the Women Category, Safety Babes, retained their title despite losing 25-22 to city rival (Abuja Derby) to second placed Defender Babes while debutantes Rima Queens came third after defeating sixth place Bendel Dynamos 31-29.
The winners in the Male and Female Category got 1.25 million naira, the second runner up a million while the third got 750,000 naira. The first three in each of the categories will represent Nigeria in the Africa Club Handball competitions in the course of the year.
