Kwese Basketball Premier League (KBPL) defending champions, Kano Pillars failed to reach this year’s final, after falling 63-66 to Gombe Bulls.
Despite playing at home in Kofar Mata Sports Hall of Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, sports247.ng reports that Pillars fell apart, after leading in the early quarters of the game, as they lost steam.
Consequently, the holders crumbled in the last two quarters, outpaced by the younger players from Gombe, who picked one of the two continental tickets available for Nigeria.
In the third quarter, both teams were tied at 46-46, until Gombe Bulls, who are handled by national team, D’Tigers assistant coach, Mohamned Abdurahman broke loose.
Gombe Bulls thus confirmed their supremacy over Pillars, as they overpowered them thrice this season, first during the regular season and then the Savannah Conference 6 final in Bauchi.
