Kano Pillars FC has confirmed the death of the club’s team manager Kabiru Baleria. Kabiru was confirmed dead on Tuesday evening at the Doctor’s Clinic in Bompai quarters in Kano municipal.
Baleria died at the age of 57 and is survived by his wife, six children and relatives.
Late Kabiru Baleria was a former National team player and previously among the coaches at the U-17 level and U-20 national team.
He is reported to have died after a protracted illness.
The football community and fans in Kano have paid the family condolence visit. According to traditions, Kabiru has been laid to rest in Kano on Tuesday.
The funeral prayers were led by Chief Imam of Murtala Mosque in Kano metropolis. Among those in attendance of the funerial were former Kano State Head of Service, Auwalu Na’iya, and former Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Ibrahim Galadima.
Others were Chairman of Kano Pillars FC, Surajo Shuaibu and other football stakeholders.
Baleria’s corpse was buried at Dandolo cemetery in Kano metropolis.
Shortly after the funeral prayers, Shuaibu led the management officials, players and technical crew of the club to condole the family of the late Baleria.
The chairman who declared a three-day mourning period for all members of the Kano Pillars family described the late Baleria as honest and dedicated.
