Kano Pillars FC: Lionel Soccoia Heaps Praises On His Players Performance

Technical adviser of former Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, champions, Kano Pillars FC, Mr. Emmanuel Lionel Soccoia has expressed his satisfaction with the performance of his players in the three warm-up matches they played at Dutse Township stadium, Jigawa state.

The Sai Masu Gida played three matches on Saturday and Sunday against Wikki Tourists, El Kanemi Warriors, and Jigawa Golden Stars FC.

In those three matches, the Aiteo cup holders defeated fellow NPFL side, Wikki Tourists by a lone goal courtesy of captain and talisman, Rabiu Ali followed by a 1-1 draw against El Kanemi Warriors and the home side, Jigawa Golden Stars.

The French tactician was full of praises for the kind of football displayed by his players and claimed that he has confidence the team will do well in the upcoming 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

He described the friendlies as a litmus test which has given him the opportunity to assess the players of the team.

He expressed his delight with the commitment shown by most of the players in the club.

“My players played very well but poor pitch and we had no time to rest in between the matches and that has greatly affected our performance, said Lionel.

He called on the management of the team to organized more grade A friendlies so as to make his players fit and ready for the challenges ahead of them.

The players and officials of the team have since touched down in the Pyramid City and the players will have a free day on Monday as the training session has been canceled by the club.
