The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kaduna State chapter has concluded arrangements to host the maiden edition of its All Secondary Schools Indoor Sports Competition.
A statement jointly signed by Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson and Abdulwaheed Adubi, its organising committee Chairman and Secretary respectively, made available on Wednesday September 26, informed that the even which is billed for the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua is scheduled to take place on September 28 and 29, 2018.
“Fifty schools were invited to participate and so many have already indicated interest to feature,” it stated.
The committee added that already, the Kaduna State Commissioner of Youth Sports and Culture, Honourable Daniel Danauta, President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, North West Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Olusola Luke, Kaduna State Director of Sports, Yakubu Ibrahim and several sports associations chairmen would be present at the event.
It explained that the events to be competed for are volleyball, chess, scrabble and table tennis.
The committee informed that the competition was organised to develop budding talents at the grassroots.
It appealed to individuals and corporate organisations who promised to support to redeem pledges, while appreciating those that have already supported the event.
