Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem has joined HNK Hajduk Split on a season-long loan from Boavista, reports Sports247.
The 25-year-old has made the temporary switch to the Croatian top division club for the 2022-23 season after spending last term on loan in Turkey with Alanyaspor.
“HNK Hajduk and Boavista FC agreed on a one-year loan of 25-year-old stopper Chidozie Awaziem with an option to purchase the contract at the end of the current season. Chidozie will wear jersey number 25 in Hajduk,” the club announced on their website.
Speaking on the move, Awaziem said: “I know that Split is a beautiful city and that the fans are very passionate and love football. I also like football, so we are very similar in that. I came to Split to give my best and to fulfill our goals.”
Awaziem signed with Boavista from Porto permanently in 2021. Before that, he had loan stints at Nantes, Caykur Rizespor and CD Leganés.
While on loan last campaign, the Nigerian international made 22 appearances for Alanyaspor. He will now continue his career in Croatia. He could make his debut for Hajduk Split on Thursday when they play Vitoria SC in the first leg of the third qualifying round of the Europa Conference League.
