Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has completed a move to Dutch outfit, Ajax from Glasgow Rangers on a permanent deal, Sports247 Nigeria can confirm.
The 22-year-old left-back was unveiled by Ajax this afternoon, after signing a five-year contract in a club’s record transfer in the region of a €23m, that could increase to to €26.5m with add ons.
Bassey followed his fellow Nigerian compatriot, Joe Aribo who had earlier this month joined Premier League side Southampton on a permanent deal out of Ibrox Stadium, where he began his professional career.
He made 65 appearances for the Light Blues, winning the historic 55th league title victory, the 2022 Scottish Cup, and played a huge role in Glasgow Rangers’ incredible run in the 2021/2022 UEFA Europa League last season.
Bassey will wear the number 33 jersey at his new club, as he hopes to continue his fantastic performance.
