Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin secured a 1-0 victory against league table toppers Lobi Stars of Makurdi in a thrilling Match Day 11 encounter of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). The decisive goal came in the 95th minute, with substitute Osaghae Jr breaking the hearts of Lobi Stars by finding the back of the net.
The match, hosted at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, seemed destined for another stalemate before Osaghae’s late strike sealed the win for the Benin Arsenals.

Before the clash with Lobi Stars, Insurance FC faced a goal drought in their last three games, managing a 2-2 draw with Kwara United in Benin, a goalless draw at Kano Pillars, and a 2-1 loss to Enyimba FC in Aba.
The 1-0 triumph over Lobi Stars propelled the Benin Arsenals to the fifth position on the league table, amassing 17 points.
They now trail the new leaders, Doma United, by four points, as Doma United overtook Lobi Stars with a 1-0 victory against Niger Tornadoes.
Insurance FC will now shift their focus to a midweek encounter against Heartland FC of Owerri scheduled for Wednesday.

In a post-match interview, Insurance FC coach Monday Odigie expressed his joy at the team’s victory. He praised Osaghae Jr for the crucial goal and commended the entire team for their efforts.
Odigie emphasized the team’s commitment to continuous improvement and stated they would keep working hard until the end of the season.
“I am happy that we won. I am happy for the scorer Osaghae Jr and I am happy for the team for being able to push for the winning goal I want to also appreciate the boys. We want to keep pushing to improve in every game. We will keep working and see how it goes till the end ”
