Bayelsa Queens veteran defender, Joy Jegede has announced her retirement bringing an end to a glittering 18yrs career winning three trophies with the Nigerian premier league team.
The Nigerian women’s international footballer who plays as a defender was a member of the Nigeria women’s national football team, and previously for the under-20 side. She was part of the team at the 2012 African Women’s Championship.
She also captained Nigerian-based Delta Queens with 9 trophies to her name and pushed the exit in 2017.
Jegede was the captain of the Nigeria women’s national under-20 football team at the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, where the team ended up being defeated by Germany in the final.
With 40 national caps to her name, Jegede has already begun preparation for life after hanging up her boot having just concluded a 3 months coaching course.
