Nigerian-born British heavyweight boxing world champion, Anthony Olaseni Oluwafemi Joshua has disclosed that he learns from female title holder, Katie Taylor.
Though they are in different sexes of the pugilists’ trade, sports247.ng reports that Taylor is also a world champ, and Joshua says he has nothing against taking some key points from her.
Katie is already billed to feature as an undercard in Joshua’s USA debut, against Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Milller on June 1 in New York, ahead of which ‘AJ’ says says there’s a lot he is learning from her, as she prepares to face WBO title holder, Rose Volante in Philadelphia on March 15.
Joshua admits he learns from Taylor and believes she will take another step towards becoming an undisputed champion by defeating Volante.
Joshua, who defends his own WBA ‘super’ IBF and WBO heavyweight belts against Miller at Madison Square Garden, says he continues to be impressed by Taylor’s fighting style and steely composure.
‘AJ’ disclosed: “When I watch her, I learn from her as well. Even as a champion, I watch her and think I need to do something like that.
“I think for Katie and anyone who is fighting, it’s just important to be yourself. She’s definitely going to become undisputed champ.
“She has her skills and technique. She’s very calming, which is working for her.
“She’s a beast in the ring. Some people talk a good game on the outside, but they don’t fight like it on the inside.”
