Organisers of the third editions of Jimoh Ajao Championship have urged the participating teams to embrace peace and shun social vices that can tarnish the image of the tournament.
Chairman Organising Committee, Arowosafe Adeshina disclosed this at the draws ceremony of the competition held of Thursday morning in Lagos.
The annual tourrney would begin on 27, November at AJ football pitch, Igando, Alimosho, Lagos.
Eight teams are expected to take part in the knockout format being sponsored by former senior special Adviser to Governor Babatunde Fashola on Housing.
Adeshina explained that the competition was not organised as a do or die affairs but urged the club owners, mangers and coaches to see the tourney as a preparatory ground for their players ahead of future high profile football competitions.
“This is the competition that is being sponsored by former senior special Adviser to Governor Babatunde Fashola on Housing so we don’t want this competition to be characterised by violence.We are imploring the participating teams to be disciplined and avoid soccer hooliganism during and after their game,”he said.
Match cordinator, Olayinka Olama insisted that only a discplined team can go far in the tournament and urged the coaches and players to maintain the rules and regulations.
Some of the invited guests from Igando Ikotun LCDA also heaped on the discipline, while others admonished the teams to comply the laid down rules and regulations of the competition.
The opening match would be played between T&T FC face Sunday & Sunday Egan team, while Team deputy battle defending champions, Bucknor in the second match as Sunday AJ team clash with Team Moliki FC, while Akinsanya FC tackle SGH Sports Academy in the last match of the day.
The winners in each game would proceed to the semi final stage.
