Reports indicate that Akor’s current Norwegian clubs, Lillestrom, and Montpellier have reached an agreement on a transfer fee of €4m for the talented striker.
Montpellier’s interest in Akor was spurred by Stephy Mavdidi’s departure to Leicester City.
The 23-year-old has been in impressive form, emerging as the leading scorer in Norway’s current season, netting 15 goals and providing three assists in just 15 games.
Akor’s prolific goal-scoring prowess caught the attention of Montpellier, who moved swiftly to secure his services.
Akor’s journey in Norway began when he joined Lillestrom from another Norwegian club, Sogndal, last year.
During his time with Lillestrom, he displayed outstanding performance, registering an impressive record of 23 goals in 37 league appearances for the Canaries.
As the transfer deal nears its completion, Akor is expected to make a significant impact at Montpellier, adding firepower to their attacking options.
His goal-scoring ability and consistent form make him a valuable asset for the French club, who will be looking to bolster their squad for the upcoming season in Ligue 1.
In August 2018, he joined Norwegian side Sogndal from Jamba Football Academy in Nigeria. He made his debut for the club on 28 August 2018.
He missed much of the 2020 season due to injury. His contract with Sogndal expired at the end of the 2021 season.
He made his competitive debut in the cup, scoring against Nardo; and then his Eliteserien debut on 2 April 2022 against HamKam, scoring one of the goals in a 2–2 draw.
