Renowned Portuguese-based football agent and Reigns Soccer Agency boss, Olawale, has hit back at former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher over his recent comments on the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
In a scathing response, Olawale accused Carragher of making controversial statements simply to stay relevant on his podcast, rather than engaging in meaningful football discussions.

“Jamie Carragher is saying words just to make himself relevant on the podcast, meanwhile, he remains in the shadows,” Olawale stated.
“Why don’t you follow the object and ignore the shadow? AFCON is a huge tournament in Africa that produces legends and showcases talented footballers across the globe. It’s a massive brand, yet someone with an average career, filled with own goals during his playing days, is coming out to speak negatively about it.”
Olawale did not hold back, suggesting that Carragher had misfired with his take on AFCON.
“Jamie, you missed it this time around. Maybe you slept on the wrong side. I have listened to most of your podcasts, and honestly, a lot of what you say is out of context. Mr. Carragher, try to be professional on your podcast and stop chasing the cloud. This is not professionalism.”
In a passionate defense of the tournament, Olawale reiterated that AFCON remains one of the most prestigious competitions in world football and will continue to thrive, regardless of external criticism.
“One day, Jamie Carragher will listen back to his own words and realize they were untrue. AFCON will continue to reign!”
