Head coach of Messiah Football Club of Ikeja, Tunde Olayinka has warned those who care to listen that his team are coming to Jagaban Cup for a serious business.
Olayinka declared this after his team resumed training on Tuesday morning at the Alade sport center, Ipaja Command, Alimosho, Lagos.
The former goalkeeper of Gateway revealed that his players are fully back to training and promised him to live up to expectations in Jagaban Cup.
“Our team manager, Mr Deji Beecroft had told us the importance of Jagaban Cup and the player’s morale were lifted and ready to give their total commitment to the competition. So we are coming to Jagaban Cup for a serious business,”Olayinka said.
The former defunct COD goalkeeper trianer did not rule out possiblity of winning the Jagaban Cup noted that their second mission in the competition is to lift the cup as a way of appreciating their fans for unalloyed support given the team throughout the year.
“As a coach, I want to win the cup as a way of appreciating our fans for staying with us throughout the last season in NLO.I am aware of the task ahead and with determination and prayers, we can achieve our set target,”he said.
In his own comment, Messiah team manager, Beecroft urged the players to take the competition serious saying that the organisers had promised to invite foreign football scouts to assess the participating players throughout the three days tournament at Onikan stadium.
A total of ten teams are expected to take part in the competition which scheduled to commence on 15, November in Lagos.
The chairman organising committee, Alhaji Gafaar Liammed said the participants have started preparation and assured the teams equal treatment.
Some of the teams expected in the Jagaban Cup are 36 Lions, Bethel FC, Smart City, Jo Sportyne, MFM, Badagry United and Ikorodu City and host of others.
