Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi remains optimistic as Arsenal prepare to face Chelsea in the Europa League final next Wednesday in Baku.
Iwobi, who has been playing for Arsenal since 2004 said he is looking forward to lifting the Europa trophy in fulfillment of his childhood dreams.
“I’ve had many dreams of winning things for Arsenal at a young age. I never thought I’d make it this far,” he said.
“Every trophy to us is special, we always want to do our best and win as many as we can, and the Europa League final is another one we can win.”
The 22-year-old also believes goalkeeper Petr Cech will be motivated to sign off his glittering career on the 29th of May by winning the Europa League title at the expense of his former team, Chelsea.
“Petr’s been a legend, not just for us but also for Chelsea, so I’m sure he’ll have a lot of feelings going into the game and there will be no better way for him to sign off than winning the Europa League final – against Chelsea as well, that would be great.”
Meanwhile Iwobi also expressed his support for Liverpool ahead of the UEFA Champions League final against London rivals, Tottenham.
“We’re not trying to focus on Tottenham to be fair, I actually hope they lose.
“We’re not trying to look at them, they’ve done well to be fair, you have to give it to them, but we want to focus on ourselves and bring a trophy back.”
Iwobi is part of Nigeria’s provisional squad for the 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations in Egypt.
