Various permutations at Emirates Stadium, London indicate that Alex Iwobi is set to appear on Arsenal’s bench for this weekend’s English Premier League fixture away to Huddersfield Town.
Sports247.ng understands that Iwobi is set to be benched due to his poor outing last time out against Manchester City as well as the upbeat form being displayed in training by Denis Suarez and Aaron Ramsey.
The odds are now tilted against Iwobi making an appearance, as The Gunners’ boss, Unai Emery is tipped to look at Suarez for a full debut, while Ramsey is in contention to start as well.
Emery is looking for variety and punch, which Iwobi does not offer, as Arsenal will be aiming to maintain pace with Chelsea and Manchester United in the race for a top-four finish when they head to Huddersfield.
The Gunners have struggled for consistency over the past six weeks, having won five, drawn one and lost six of their last 12 matches in all competitions, with Iwobi the biggest villain of their last defeat.
A sneak preview of the game stated in part: “After making a 25-minute appearance from the bench last time out, meanwhile, January loan signing Denis Suarez is in line for his full debut, while Emery must choose between Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil in attacking midfield.”
