The Super Eagles lost 2-1 to Mexico in an international friendly in Texas, which was the first official game for head coach Jose Peseiro and his technical crew, and the team prepared for one more.
Despite the loss in a game that had lots of new faces, home-based players making their debut and a new coaching crew, the president of Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club (ANFASSC), Mr. Abayomi Ogunjimi has stated that it’s too early to judge.
“It’s too early to judge anybody. This is a friendly match and there’s nothing at stake,” he told Sports247.
“For anyone to criticize the coach and team at the moment is too early. We still face Ecuador, let’s see how it goes as this is friendly and the coach needs to try everyone to see how he can get his first eleven,” he said.
The president who has always ensured his supporter’s club are present for the Super Eagles at all competitions as well as the other teams in the country, advised the home-based players to take their chances.
“My advice for the home-based players is to build up their confidence, realize this is an opportunity for them to deliver. If they do not utilize it, it may not be good for them so they need to take every chance given to them,” Mr. Abayomi concluded.
The Super Eagles face Ecuador in New Jersey, USA on Thursday, 2nd of June 2022 in another friendly.
