History will be made today at the St. Johns College playground as the first-ever FA-organized female league takes center stage.
Setting the ball rolling are two teams from two different local government areas of Plateau State, Gotaks United Girls of Mangu local government area and Pankshin United Girls FC of Pankshin local government area trade tackles in Jos North local government area at the St. Johns College Field by 3 pm today.
Speaking at a meeting to put finishing touches to the maiden female league on Tuesday, the Chairman of the organizing committee, Larry Gowon, called on all and sundry on the Plateau to join hands with his team and the football parent body in the State headed by Sunday Samson Longbap in making this project of making female football on the Plateau envy to other States in Nigeria a reality.
Nine female teams will slug it out in this maiden edition.
Group A includes Bungha Queens of Mangu, Jazzy Stars Damsels FA, Pankshin United Girls FC of Pankshin, and Gotaks United Girls FC of Mangu.
Group B is made up of five teams and they include Mees Palace FA Lynxes, Vision FC Jos, Joe-K Angels Jos, Tin City Queens FC, and Chapel Girls of Jos.
Matches continue in both groups in Panyam, in Mangu local government area, St. John College Field, Jos and Police Field playground in Jos tomorrow.
