Head Coach of Remo Stars, Daniel Ogunmodede has charged his players to not relent following their 1-1 draw against ASFAR FC in their first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup which took place in Morroco, Rabat.
Ahead of the second leg which is slated for Sunday, 18 October at Remo Stars’ home ground, Ikenne, Ogunmodede is hopeful that his boys will get the job done and progress to the next round.
It will be noteworthy to know that this is Remo Stars’ first continental appearance after finishing 3rd on 62 points last season in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) which automatically allows them to participate in the prestigious competition.
Speaking in an interview with Sports247 ahead of the showpiece, Ogunmodede said the draw was a great result for the team as a first-timer.
“Our first time in the continent even me as a coach, for me, I term us as the newest baby in the cup competition and it was a very massive task for us playing against a traditional team, a team from the country of a well-cultured football team.”
“Very tactical team with a massive record in the competition and on their home again, playing against sixty thousand fans with 98% of my boys being the first time of being in such atmosphere, I greatly salute their courage to overcome such task at this moment.”
“For us, it’s a good thing for everyone and the boys and we are happy that we are able to achieve this feat.”
“Immediately after the match, we know and we realize we have to not lose our head because it’s not over until it’s over, so we know this and all these boys know this, he stated.
“Fully we go onto the next game and qualify for the next round hopefully, we are working towards that,” he concluded.
