In an exhibition game held at the Legacy Pitch, Surulere, Collins Edwin SC demolished Visionaries Football Academy of Delta State 9-1. The Gladiators were 4-1 up going into half-time and added even more in the second-half.
The match which was scheduled for the assessments of players on trials with Collins Edwin SC saw a number of great performances.
Post-match, Sports247 caught up with the club’s secretary Ken Maduabuchi. He said:
“This screening exercise started about two weeks ago and over 100 players were invited across the country. We’ve managed to trim them to this current size.
“This is the first exhibition match we have played. A very good outing I must say. We are still building because this summer a number of players are leaving our team, traveling to Europe. So we are trying to inject new energy into the team.”
Maduabuchi confirmed that more matches will be played in order to further evaluate the players. He also admitted the difficulty of the task with a lot of players putting up strong displays.
“It is becoming more difficult for the coaching crew to take a decision [on the final players to select] because everybody who participated in the game today played well like the next person.
“But be that as it may, we always have the size that we work with. We’ll still come out eventually with the team to work with for the season. It does not mean that some of them we are going to drop are not good. They are also good but we can’t carry everybody. That is the project we are building.” he concluded.
